Wilburton Fireworks DisplayThe Wilburton fireworks display is one of the best displays in the area - as we have a firing system that enables us to set the fireworks off to music, making each display unique and entertaining. We also have a theme each year, which is represented in the music and the set pieces that accompany the display.
We open the gates open at 6:00pm, with the refreshments, novelty stalls and fun fair open. The fire is lit around 6:30pm - then the countdown to the fireworks begins at around 7:30pm. Our firework display lasts around 20 minutes, using a vast selection of the best Category 4 fireworks available. After the display has finished, the fun fair, BBQ and bar stay open until 9:00pm.
Our event is organised and run by volunteers - including those who setup and fire the fireworks, those on the food and hot drinks stalls, those on marshalling and boundary patrol, and the scouts and brownies who help us run the car park and litter pick. We aim to provide a fun evening out for everyone, and also to raise money for local good causes. Over the years we have donated many thousands of pounds to groups within the local villages - helping them to fund new equipment, trips, or even just keep running.
As our event is held on the village recreation ground, in November, you will need to have sensible foot wear. It can be muddy!
Food and DrinkA selection of food and refreshments are available during the event - including the ever-popular BBQ with hot dogs and burgers, as well as jacket potatoes with a selection of fillings including a fantastic chilli. Hot and cold drinks are also on sale, alongside a licenced bar.
NoveltiesEach year, Humpty's Pre-School have a stall selling novelties to raise funds for the pre-school. This includes a range of glow sticks and toys with flashing lights - always popular with the kids!
Fun FairA selection of rides and stalls are available for the younger kids to enjoy before and after the fireworks.
Car ParkingOur car park is organised by a local scout group, who volunteer to help us on the night. It is in a field, which can be both dark and muddy in November - so wear suitable shoes and bring a torch! As always, we do ask that if you can walk that you do so - to keep the roads as clear as possible. And please don't park along the streets of the village - this can block driveways and restrict traffic.
TicketsTickets are available in advance for our event, which have the benefits of avoiding queues on the night via a separate entrance and offer a discount to families as kids are a quid on advance tickets when accompanying an adult. Tickets will be on sale for 2 weeks prior to the event in the village Post Office. Note the ticket sales finish on the Friday before the event - no sales on the day of the event - but you can pay to enter on the gate.
