Wilburton Fireworks Display

'77 Committee - End of an Era

Sadly the Wilburton '77 fireworks committee has come to an end after putting on displays for over 37 years. Those who have attended will no doubt agree it was one of the villages proudest events each year and never ceased to amaze the crowds with spectacular displays to music, with every penny of profit going to local village charities, clubs and organisations.

Unfortunately the committee has dwindled in numbers during Covid and not enough uptake to keep the display going has forced it to fold.

There will be (or was) a final presentation of money to the local beneficiaries on 19th Sept at 7.30pm in the social club in Wilburton.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend the cheque presentation and to celebrate the hours of work by those dedicated to helping others.

It’s believed the Parish Council are aiming to start their own dedicated display going forward, run by the Council. The Parish Council website has more details - click here for the Wilburton Fireworks 2023 onwards.

So thank you to everyone who helped, contributed, gave up their precious time and those who bought tickets to help others in the village.

You have helped raised over £80,000 in the years it’s been running….all to help those who need it most.

Thank you from all of us from the 77 committee past and present.
